Executive Summary: Rice University hosted a National Nanotechnology Initiative Southern Regional ?Nanotechnology Workshop: From the Laboratory to New Commercial Frontiers? on May 23, 2002. This was the second regional workshop sponsored by the National Nanotechnology Initiative, U.S. Department of Commerce, the Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, and the National Nanotechnology Coordination Office. The first was held at the University of California at Los Angeles in September 2001 and two more are planned for the Midwest and the Northeast.
