Air Force Doctrine Document 2–6 Secretary of the Air Force 25 June 1999

By Ryan, Michael E.

Description
Government Reference Publication

Excerpt
Introduction: PURPOSE Air Force Doctrine Document (AFDD) 2–6, Air Mobility, has been prepared under the direction of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF). This document establishes doctrinal guidance for the application of air mobility forces and is consistent with, and complementary to, capstone doctrine contained in AFDD 1, Air Force Basic Doctrine, and AFDD 2, Organization and Employment of Aerospace Power. AFDD 2–6 serves as the keystone doctrine document for employing airlift, air refueling, and air mobility support elements as an integrated air mobility system. APPLICATION AFDD 2–6 applies to all active duty, Air Force Reserve (AFR), Air National Guard (ANG), and civilian Air Force personnel. The doctrine in this document is authoritative but not directive; therefore, commanders are encouraged to exercise judgement in applying this doctrine to accomplish their missions.
